Hollyhock
How to sow hollyhocks outdoors?
To sow hollyhocks outdoors, it's best to do so in spring or autumn to encourage good growth. Choose a sunny spot with well-drained, loose soil. Before sowing, we recommend aerating and loosening the soil with a spading fork to help the roots grow.
Cut furrows about 20 to 30 cm apart and sow the hollyhock seeds 1 to 2 cm deep. Cover the seeds with fine soil and pack lightly. Be sure to water the seedling regularly to keep the soil moist until germination.
Once the plants are well established, remove any weeds around them to encourage their development. Hollyhocks can grow to a great height, so allow about 50cm between each plant so they can develop fully.
Beware of limes.
Beware of slugs and snails, which can attack young plants. If they do attack, use natural methods such as ashes or eggshells to keep them away.
