How to sow alfalfa successfully outdoors?
To sow alfalfa outdoors, choose a sunny spot with well-drained soil. It's best to sow in spring or summer, when temperatures are mild. Before sowing, loosen the soil by ploughing or spading to ensure it is well aerated. Then sow the alfalfa seeds about 1 to 2 centimetres deep, spacing them about 15 to 20 centimetres apart.
Be sure to water the soil well after sowing to encourage germination. Once the plants have reached a few centimetres in height, you can thin them out, keeping only the most vigorous plants. It's important to keep an eye on weeds and remove them regularly so they don't smother the young alfalfa plants.
Alfalfa is an undemanding plant, but if your soil is poor, you can add compost to enrich the soil. Avoid using chemical fertilisers, instead favour natural gardening methods. By following these tips, you should get beautiful alfalfa plants to feed your animals or enrich your soil naturally.
