Alysse (Alyssum)
How to sow wild garlic outside?
To sow alyssum outdoors, it is best to wait until spring, when there is no risk of frost. Prepare the soil by carefully weeding and levelling it. To sow the seeds, make shallow furrows about 20 cm apart. Place the seeds in the furrows a few centimetres apart, then cover them lightly with soil. Tamp the soil gently to ensure good contact between the seeds and the soil.
Be sure to keep the soil moist but not soggy until the seeds have germinated. Once the plants are sufficiently developed, you can thin out, leaving one plant every 15-20 cm. Watch out for aphids and other pests, and encourage biodiversity to limit damage. Alysses are hardy plants that don't need fertiliser, but you can enrich the soil with compost in autumn to encourage abundant flowering the following year.
