Apricot tree
How to plant an apricot tree?
To plant an apricot tree, choose a sunny spot sheltered from cold winds. The best time to plant is in autumn, but you can also do it in spring. Prepare a hole about 50 cm deep and wide, and mix the soil with compost. Make sure the soil is well drained to avoid excess water that could rot the roots.
If you're planting a nursery apricot tree, carefully remove the pot and untangle the roots. If the roots are potted or badly tangled, don't hesitate to prune them back slightly. Place the tree in the hole, ensuring that the grafting point is above ground level, then fill in with the soil-compost mixture. Water thoroughly after planting and cover the base with a thick layer of mulch to conserve moisture.
Avoid using chemical fertilisers and favour natural methods to fertilise your apricot tree, such as compost or organic mulch. Make sure you water your tree regularly, especially during dry spells, to encourage good growth and abundant fruiting.
