Where should I plant my blackcurrant bush?
The caseillier is a fruit-bearing shrub that thrives in soil that is rich in organic matter and well drained. It is best to plant the caseillier in spring or autumn, when the soil is still warm. Before planting, we recommend working the soil well by adding compost or well-decomposed manure.
Create a hole twice as wide and deep as the root ball of the plant. Place the root of the caseillier in the hole, making sure that the collar of the plant is level with the ground. Fill in the hole, packing the soil lightly.
Water thoroughly after planting to encourage rooting. Thereafter, it is important to water regularly, especially during dry spells. However, avoid excess water, which could rot the roots of the caseillier.
