How to plant a Cayenne cherry tree?

To grow cayenne cherry trees, we recommend planting them in the ground in autumn to help them root before winter arrives. Choose a sunny spot with well-drained soil, preferably slightly acidic. It's also important to space the trees at least 4 to 5 metres apart to encourage their development.

When planting, dig a hole twice as wide and deep as the root ball of the plant. Enrich the soil with compost before replanting the cherry tree, taking care not to bury the crown. Water well after planting and mulch to keep the soil moist. There's no need for chemical fertilisers; recycling green waste can provide the nutrients the cherry tree needs. However, be sure to remove weeds regularly so as not to compete with the tree.

Cayenne cherry trees are hardy plants that require no special care. Simply prune them to remove dead wood and encourage fruit production. By following these growing tips, you'll be able to enjoy delicious, ripe cherries in early summer.
