How do I sow coloquintes under cover?

Cultivating coloquinte requires particular care when sowing under cover. To begin with, we recommend sowing the seeds in individual cups filled with light, well-draining potting soil. The cups should be placed about 1 to 2 cm deep in the potting soil.

It is advisable to sow the seeds under cover in spring, generally around March, to allow the plants to develop before being transplanted outdoors after the last frosts. Be sure to maintain a constant temperature of around 20°C to encourage the seeds to germinate.

It is important to ensure that the plants receive sufficient light, by placing them near a window or using artificial lighting if necessary. It is also advisable not to expose the plants to temperatures that are too low, as coloquint is sensitive to cold.

By following these tips and taking good care of your coloquint plants, you'll be able to get great harvests of this original and colourful vegetable.
