Gaillardia
How do I sow spats outdoors?
To sow gaillardes outdoors, it is best to do so in spring, when there is no risk of frost. Choose a sunny spot with well-drained soil. Before sowing, it's important to aerate the soil by working it with a hoe to rid it of weeds and stones.
Cut shallow furrows in the soil and space the gaillardia seeds 20 to 30 cm apart. Then lightly cover the seeds with soil and gently tamp down the soil.
Watch out for weeds and stones.
Make sure to keep the soil moist but not soggy during the germination period, which can take from 7 to 14 days. Once the plants are well developed, it is advisable to thin them out, keeping the best specimens at least 30 cm apart.
Gaillardes are hardy plants that do not require fertiliser. However, be sure to water them regularly and remove spent flowers to encourage abundant flowering throughout the season.
