How to sow hyssop successfully under cover?

To sow hyssop under cover, it is recommended to start sowing in February or March. It is best to use seed cups or trays filled with good quality potting soil. Be sure to pack the potting soil well before sowing the hyssop seeds on the surface, then cover them lightly with potting soil.

Place the cups or seed trays in a bright, warm place, taking care to maintain a constant temperature of around 20°C. Water regularly, taking care not to over-wet the soil to prevent the seeds from rotting. The first shoots should appear in one to two weeks.

Once the hyssop plants are well developed and there is no risk of frost, they can be transplanted into the ground, spacing the plants about 40 cm apart. Make sure they are planted in well-drained, sunny soil. Hyssop is an undemanding plant that does not require fertiliser, but you can water it from time to time in the event of prolonged drought.
