LoofahHow to sow loofahs successfully under cover?
To successfully sow luffa (sponge squash) under cover, we recommend sowing in spring, around April. To do this, you can use small pots filled with quality potting soil, ideally biodegradable to make transplanting easier later on. It's important to soak loofah seeds in warm water for 24 hours before sowing them, to encourage germination.
Place your pots in a bright place, at a temperature of around 20°C. Take care to maintain constant humidity, without drowning the young plants. When the seedlings are a few centimetres tall and all risk of frost has passed, you can transplant them into the ground, in a sunny spot sheltered from the wind.
By following these steps and making sure you regularly monitor the growth of your loofahs, you'll be able to enjoy a fine harvest of this exotic vegetable in autumn. By favouring a natural approach without chemical fertilisers, you'll be helping to preserve the balance of your garden and obtain tasty, healthy fruit.
