How do I sow lupins outdoors?

Lupin is an easy plant to grow outdoors. To sow lupin seeds, choose a sunny spot with well-drained soil. You can sow lupin seeds in spring or autumn. Before sowing, carefully weed the planting area and loosen the soil by working it with a spade or hoe.

.

Scatter the lupin seeds about 30 cm apart. Cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil and pack lightly. Water regularly to keep the soil moist, without drowning the seeds.

Be sure to keep away slugs and snails, which can damage young lupin plants. You can keep them away by scattering crushed eggshells around the plants.

Once the lupin plants have grown well, they require little maintenance. Enjoy their beautiful, colourful flowers, which will attract foraging insects to your garden.
