How do I sow mallows under cover?

To grow mallows under cover, we recommend sowing the seeds in a light, well-drained potting soil, such as garden soil mixed with sand. Seedlings can be sown in small individual containers or in peat pots. It is important to keep the potting soil moist but not soggy, taking care not to overwater.

Mallows can be sown under cover in the spring, from March, for planting in the open ground in May. The seeds should be covered with a thin layer of soil and placed at a temperature of around 18°C to encourage germination.

It is advisable to regularly monitor the moisture content of the potting soil, aerate the plants regularly to prevent disease and protect young plants from late frosts if necessary. Once the plants have developed a few leaves, they can be transplanted into the ground in a sunny spot.
