Mulberry
How to plant a mulberry tree?
To plant mulberry trees, it is best to do so in autumn or early spring. Choose a sunny spot with well-drained soil. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball of the plant and the same depth. Mix a little compost or potting soil with the soil removed to improve its quality.
Place the plant in the hole, ensuring that the top of the root ball is level with the ground. Fill in the hole, packing the soil lightly around the plant. Water thoroughly after planting to help the roots establish.
In dry periods, be sure to water your mulberry tree regularly. We also recommend mulching the base of the plant to conserve moisture. Avoid using chemical fertilisers, preferring compost or nettle purin. Finally, prune your mulberry tree regularly to encourage fruit production and remove dead branches.
