How to sow petunias successfully under cover?

To sow petunias under cover, it's best to start in early spring, around March or April. Use light, well-drained potting soil and individual containers such as cups or recycled egg cartons. Make sure the seeds are 0.5cm deep in the potting soil and make sure you maintain a constant temperature of between 18 and 21°C.

Make sure the potting soil stays moist but not soggy by watering lightly on a regular basis. Once the plants are 5 cm tall, you can transplant them into the ground or into larger pots. When transplanting, take care not to bury the collar of the plant, i.e. the base of the stems close to the ground.

Place your petunia plants in a sunny spot, sheltered from the wind. In particular, avoid situations where the sun is too direct and scorching in the middle of the day. By following these tips, your petunias will develop healthily and offer beautiful flowers throughout the summer season.
