How can I encourage Grenaille potatoes to germinate?
To successfully sprout shot potatoes, it's important to choose quality tubers. Before planting them, make sure they are healthy and disease-free. We also recommend leaving them in the open air for a few days so that they can heal and form a protective film.
Create shallow furrows about 20-30 cm apart and place the tubers about 5 cm deep. Then cover them with fine soil and pack lightly. Be sure to water regularly, but moderately, to keep the soil fresh without soaking.
Prefer a sunny, well-drained spot to encourage plant growth. Avoid excess water, which could cause the tubers to rot. Finally, keep a regular eye out for weeds and remove them by hand so as not to compete with the shot plants.
