How do I sow Rudbeckias outdoors?

Rudbeckia is a perennial plant much appreciated for its beautiful yellow flowers and easy care. To sow rudbeckia seeds outdoors, it's best to wait until spring, when the risk of frost has passed. Choose a sunny spot with well-drained soil. Before sowing, loosen the soil by working it with a spading fork and remove any weeds.

.

Scatter the rudbeckia seeds over the surface of the soil and cover lightly with fine soil. Be sure to space them about 30 to 40 cm apart to allow the plants to develop fully. Water gently to keep the soil moist, but avoid excess water which could cause the seeds to rot.

After emergence, be sure to thin out the plants to keep just one individual every 30 cm. Rudbeckia likes poor soil, so there's no need to add fertiliser. With a little care and attention, your rudbeckias will flower abundantly and brighten up your garden all summer long.
