How to sow soapwort outdoors?

To sow soapwort outdoors, it is best to do so in spring, around April or May, when frosts are no longer a concern. Choose a sunny or semi-sunny spot to plant your seeds. Prepare the soil by weeding and working it deeply so that it is well aerated.

Create shallow furrows in the soil and space the soapwort seeds about 30 to 40 cm apart. Cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil and lightly tamp.

Be sure to water the soil regularly to maintain some moisture, without soaking it. Soapwort is a hardy plant that doesn't need fertiliser, it's happy with well-drained soil.

Watch out for the weather.

Watch out for the appearance of the first shoots and be sure to remove any weeds that might compete with the soapwort in its early stages of growth. Once well established, this hardy perennial will offer you pretty pale pink flowers throughout the summer.
