Snowdrops
How do I plant snowdrops?
Snowdrops are easy plants to grow in the ground. They are best planted in autumn for flowering in early spring. Choose a sunny or slightly shady spot with well-drained soil rich in organic matter. It's best to plant bulbs in small groups or in borders for optimum decorative effect.
Create a hole twice as deep as the size of the bulb and space them about 10 centimetres apart. Cover them with soil and pack lightly to avoid air pockets. Snowdrops are hardy plants that don't need fertiliser. You can let them multiply naturally over the seasons to form pretty carpets of white flowers.
If you want to transplant snowdrops already in pots, do so preferably in autumn or spring, taking care not to bury the collar. Water freshly installed plants regularly to encourage their rooting and take advantage of their early flowering to welcome spring into your garden.
