How to sow tansy outdoors?

To sow tansy outdoors, we recommend doing so in spring. Choose a sunny, well-drained spot in your garden. Before sowing, hoe the soil to remove weeds and loosen the soil. You can also add a little compost to enrich the soil, but avoid chemical fertilisers.

Sow the seeds 0.5 to 1 cm deep, spacing them about 30 cm apart. Cover the seeds lightly with fine soil and tamp gently. Keep the soil moist but not soggy during germination, which usually takes 1 to 2 weeks.

Once the seedlings are a few centimetres tall, thin them out to leave just one plant every 30 cm. Tansy is a hardy plant that doesn't need much maintenance, but you will need to keep an eye out for aphid attacks and caterpillar infestations. If necessary, you can eliminate them using natural methods such as insecticidal soap sprays.
