How to plant montbretias (crocosmias)?
To grow montbretia, also known as crocosmia, we recommend planting the bulbs in spring or autumn, in well-drained, sunny soil. Make sure the soil is fertile, light and fairly moist. Avoid soils that are too heavy and clayey, which are likely to retain water and cause the bulbs to rot.
Cut a hole twice as deep as the size of the bulb, place it in the hole, making sure to cover it with soil. Space the bulbs about 10 to 15 cm apart to allow them to develop. Water lightly after planting to encourage rooting.
If they are small seedlings, transplant them into soil enriched with well-decomposed compost. Make sure they get plenty of sunlight and water regularly to keep the soil cool.
The montbretia is a very popular plant for the summer.
Montbretia is a hardy, undemanding plant that is resistant to disease and pests. By following these simple tips, you'll be able to enjoy beautiful bright orange flowers all summer long in your garden.
