Not enough water

The first factor to take into account is watering your eggplants. In fact, a lack of water can cause the leaves to curl up. Make sure to keep the soil well moistened, without drowning it. Eggplants need a consistent amount of water to grow properly.

Poor exposure to the sun

Another element to consider is the exposure of your eggplants to the sun. These plants need a lot of light to grow well. If they don't get enough sunlight, their leaves can curl up. Make sure to place them in a sunny location, ideally for at least 6 hours a day.

Lack of nutrients

Soil low in nutrients can also cause problems for eggplants, including leaf curling. Be sure to fertilize your soil with compost or manure to provide plants with the nutrients they need to grow properly.

Pest attack

Pests such as aphids or mites can damage eggplant leaves, which can cause them to curl up. Inspect your plants regularly for the possible presence of these little critters and act quickly to eliminate them. You can in particular use natural solutions such as diluted black soap to fight against aphids.

Poor growing conditions

Finally, poor growing conditions can also be the cause of leaf curling. Be sure to plant your eggplants in well-drained, loose soil, space them properly to promote air circulation, and mulch the soil to maintain good humidity.

By following these tips and remaining attentive to your plants, you should be able to prevent and treat leaf curl on your eggplants naturally. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different solutions to find what works best in your garden. Happy growing!
