Also known as the butterfly tree, buddleia is a spectacular flowering shrub that brings a touch of colour and life to any garden. With its clusters of crescent-shaped flowers and intoxicating scent, this shrub is a real asset for attracting butterflies and other pollinating insects.To plant a buddleia, choose a sunny, well-drained spot. The shrub prefers fertile, slightly acidic soil, but can adapt to a wide range of growing conditions. It is important to dig a hole twice as big as the root ball and to allow the roots to breathe by compacting them before covering them with soil.Once planted, buddleia can grow to a height of 1 to 5 metres, depending on the variety. It is advisable to prune the shrub at the end of winter to encourage abundant flowering. Cutting back the main branches to around 30 cm from the ground will encourage new shoots and more flowers…
