How to plant a buddleia?

To grow buddleia in the ground, it is best to plant it in spring or autumn, when the soil is still warm. Choose a sunny spot sheltered from the wind, as buddleia needs plenty of light to grow well. Make sure the soil is well drained, as this plant does not like stagnant moisture. If your soil is heavy, add sand or gravel to improve drainage.

When planting, dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball of the plant and mix in a little compost to enrich the soil. Transplant the buddleia, taking care not to damage the roots, and pack the soil well around the base of the plant. Water thoroughly after planting to help the plant settle.
