When to sow Nantes carrots outdoors?
To sow Nantaise carrots outdoors, it's important to choose a sunny spot with light, loose, well-drained soil. Prepare the soil by carefully weeding it and working it deeply to avoid forked roots.
Nantaise carrots are generally sown in spring, once all risk of frost has passed. Sow the seeds about 1 cm deep and 2-3 cm apart. Water regularly to keep the soil moist, but avoid excess water which could cause root rot.
Be sure to thin out the plants when the young carrots reach a few centimetres in height, spacing them 5-7 cm apart to allow the roots to develop properly. Protect the seedlings from pests by covering them with an insect veil or using natural biological control methods.
