Chickpeas
How to sow chickpeas successfully outdoors?
To sow chickpeas outdoors, we recommend doing so in spring, once all risk of frost has passed. First prepare the soil by weeding it and working it deeply so that it is well aerated. Chickpeas need well-drained, sunny soil to develop properly.
Create furrows about 5 cm deep, leaving 20 to 30 cm between each row. Arrange the chickpea grains about every 10 cm along the furrows, then cover them with fine soil and pack lightly.
Be sure to water the seedlings regularly, especially in dry periods, without drowning the seedlings. Also avoid excess moisture, which encourages the development of disease. Once the plants are well rooted, you can space out the watering.
Watch out for weeds and remove them regularly so they don't compete with the chickpeas. You can also mulch the soil to conserve moisture and limit weed growth.
