How to sow chives successfully under cover?
To grow chives under cover, we recommend sowing the seeds in small individual containers, such as terracotta cups or recycled plastic pots. Fill the containers with light, well-drained potting soil, leaving a few centimetres of space under the rim for easy watering.
Sowing is generally done in spring or autumn, inside a greenhouse or conservatory to encourage the growth of young plants. Chives need warmth and light to germinate, so be sure to place them in a bright spot but without direct sunlight.

Be sure to keep the potting soil moist without over-watering to prevent root rot. Once the plants are well developed, you can transplant them into the ground or leave them in larger containers for pot cultivation.
