How do I sow epazote outdoors?
To sow epazote outdoors, we recommend doing so in spring once any risk of frost has passed. Choose a sunny spot with well-drained soil. Weed the area thoroughly and work the soil by hoeing to make it light and airy.
Then sow the epazote seeds directly into the soil, spacing them about 20 centimetres apart. Cover the seeds lightly with soil and tamp gently. Be sure to water regularly to keep the soil fresh, but be careful not to overwater to prevent the seeds from rotting.
It's important to monitor the growth of the plants and protect them from weeds by pulling them out regularly. Epazote does not require fertiliser, but you can enrich the soil with organic compost if necessary. Harvest the epazote leaves as and when you need them to enjoy their unique flavour in your dishes.
