How to sow lemon balm successfully outdoors?
To sow lemon balm outdoors, it is best to do so in spring, once the risk of frost has passed. Choose a sunny spot with well-drained soil. Weed and loosen the soil well before sowing the seeds. Lemon balm seeds are very small, so it's best to sow them on the surface of the soil and press them down lightly with your hand. Be sure to space them 20 to 30 centimetres apart.
Water regularly after sowing, taking care not to let the soil dry out. Lemon balm likes soil rich in organic matter, but can thrive in poor soil. There's no need to use chemical fertilisers, as lemon balm is easy to grow. Take care to prevent fungal diseases by spacing plants to encourage air circulation.
