Monarde
How to sow monarda outdoors?
To grow monarda outdoors, it is best to sow the seeds in spring, after the last frosts. Choose a sunny spot with well-drained soil. Before sowing, weed the area thoroughly and loosen the soil with a fork or rake.
Scatter the monarda seeds over the surface of the soil and cover with a thin layer of soil. Water lightly to keep the soil moist, but not soggy. Be sure to space the seeds about 30 cm apart to allow the plants to develop fully.
As for maintenance, monarda likes to be watered regularly, especially during dry periods. It doesn't need fertiliser, but organic mulch can be beneficial to conserve soil moisture and reduce weed growth.
Watch out for signs of fungal diseases, such as rust, and intervene quickly if necessary. Monard also attracts many beneficial insects to the garden, making it an excellent plant for encouraging biodiversity. By following these tips, you'll be able to enjoy beautiful, colourful flowers all summer long.
