Monarde, also known as wild bergamot, is an aromatic plant with many health benefits. Native to North America, this plant is highly prized for its lemony fragrance and medicinal properties. Monarde has antiseptic, antibacterial and antifungal properties, as well as being rich in antioxidants.In cooking, Monarde is often used to flavour dishes, infusions, salads and desserts. Its fresh leaves can be finely chopped and added to salads or fish dishes to add a touch of freshness. Monarde flowers can be used to garnish dishes or to flavour desserts and drinks.To grow Monarde, we recommend sowing it in spring, after the last frost, in light, well-drained soil.
