Pepino (melon pear)
How do I sow pepino under cover?
Pepino, also known as pear melon, is a plant that is easy to grow from seed. To sow under cover, it is best to use cups or small pots filled with light, well-drained potting soil. Sowing can be done in spring, ideally around March. It is important to maintain a constant temperature of around 20°C to encourage the seeds to germinate. Make sure you water regularly, but sparingly to avoid rotting the young plants. Good exposure to light is also essential for optimum growth. Once the plants have reached a few centimetres in height, you can transplant them into the ground or into large pots so that they can develop fully. By following these few tips, you'll be able to enjoy delicious pear melons in summer, rich in flavour and vitamins. Happy growing!
