ROCAMBOLE ONION
How to sow spring onions outdoors?
To successfully sow rocambole onions outdoors, it's important to choose a sunny, well-drained spot. The best time to sow is in autumn or early spring. Before sowing, we recommend working the soil by weeding and loosening the compacted soil. You can add compost to enrich the soil, but avoid using chemical fertilisers.
When sowing, plant the seeds 1 to 2 cm deep and 10 to 15 cm apart. Be sure to water them regularly to keep the soil moist, but not soggy. It's also important to keep an eye on weeds to prevent them smothering the young rocambole onion plants.
Once the plants are well established, you can transplant them into a permanent spot, spacing them 20-30 cm apart. Be sure to protect them from predators, such as birds or slugs. With these simple tips, you'll be able to enjoy a fine crop of rocambole onions with a delicate, slightly spicy flavour.
