Sea Buckthorn
How to plant sea buckthorn?
To grow sea buckthorn, we recommend planting the shrubs in autumn or early spring. Choose a sunny spot with well-drained soil rich in organic matter. Sea buckthorn prefers sandy to slightly clayey soil.
Create a hole wide and deep enough to accommodate the shrub's roots. Possibly add compost or well-decomposed manure to enrich the soil, but avoid chemical fertilisers. Carefully place the sea buckthorn in the hole, taking care not to damage the roots, then fill in with soil.
Water thoroughly after planting to encourage rooting. Mulch the base of the shrub to retain moisture and limit competition from weeds. Prune regularly to encourage fruit production and maintain the sea buckthorn's attractive silhouette.
Once planted, sea buckthorn requires little maintenance. It is resistant to cold and disease, making it an ideal plant for a natural garden.
