How do I sow buckwheat outdoors?

To sow buckwheat outdoors, it's best to wait until spring for milder temperatures. Prefer well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Before sowing, work the soil by weeding and loosening it to encourage the seeds to germinate. Sow the seeds at a depth of 2 to 3 cm, spacing them about 15 cm apart.

Be sure to water the sowing area regularly, especially if the weather is dry. Buckwheat does not need additional fertiliser but can benefit from an organic mulch to keep the soil moist and protect the seeds from weeds. Watch out for insect and disease attacks, which you can treat naturally with organic solutions if necessary.
