Pawpaw
Pawpaw is a fruit tree native to North America. It belongs to the annonacae family and is distinguished by its broad leaves, hanging flowers and tasty fruit. Botanically speaking, the asiminium is a large, medium-sized tree, reaching heights of up to 12 metres. Its leaves are simple, alternate and oval, measuring between 15 and 30 cm in length. They are dark green in colour and have a smooth texture. The flowers are solitary, dark purple-brown and bell-shaped. They have a sweet fragrance and attract pollinating insects.Asiminium fruits are oblong berries measuring between 7 and 15 cm in length. They are generally green when ripe, with orange-yellow flesh and black seeds. They are edible and taste sweet and slightly crunchy, reminiscent of mango, banana and pineapple.
