How do I sow savory outdoors?

To sow savory successfully outdoors, we recommend doing so in spring, when there is no risk of frost. Prepare the soil by carefully weeding it and working it deeply so that it is well aerated. If your soil is too compact, you can add a little sand to improve drainage.

Sow the savory seeds about 0.5 cm deep, spacing them about 20 cm apart. Cover the seeds lightly with soil and tamp gently. Water regularly but lightly to keep the soil always slightly moist, without wetting too much to prevent the seeds rotting.

Make sure the young savory plants get enough sun, at least 6 hours a day. Protect them from strong winds, which could break them. Once the plants are well developed, you can use them to flavour your dishes or dry them for later use.
