How do sweet potatoes germinate?
To sprout sweet potatoes, it's important to choose organic and untreated tubers. Start by cutting the sweet potato in half and planting it in a pot filled with light soil. Make sure the cut side is facing upwards and the potato is firmly planted in the soil.
Place the pot in a bright, warm spot, ideally near a sunny window. Keep the soil moist but not soggy by watering the sweet potato regularly. Make sure the pot has good drainage to prevent root rot.
After a few weeks, you will see green shoots appear. Continue to look after the plant by watering it regularly and protecting it from excessively cold temperatures. When the shoots reach around 15 cm in height, you can carefully remove them to replant them in the ground or in a larger pot.
