Tomato Market WonderMerveille des marchés tomato is a very popular variety of tomato, known for its mild, sweet flavour, juicy texture and fine skin. It is rich in vitamins A, C and E, antioxidants and minerals such as potassium and magnesium. It can be cooked in many ways: in salads, sauces, jams, tarts, coulis or even dried. It is therefore very versatile in the kitchen, adding a touch of freshness and colour to many dishes.
To grow the Merveille des marchés tomato, we recommend sowing it indoors, about 0.5 cm deep, in pots filled with moist, loose compost. It is important to maintain a constant temperature of around 20°C to encourage germination. Once the plants have reached a height of around 15 cm, they can be transplanted into the ground or into pots, spaced at around 40-50 cm apart.
Maintenance of the Merveille des marchés tomato requires regular watering, taking care not to wet the leaves to prevent disease. A potassium-rich fertiliser is also recommended to encourage growth and fruit formation. It is important to stake the plants to support them and prevent them from collapsing under the weight of the tomatoes.
The harvest period for the Merveille des marches tomato varies according to the region and weather conditions. In general, the first fruits can be picked from July to September. Tomatoes should be picked when they are brightly coloured but still firm, and left to ripen at room temperature. Once ripe, they can be eaten fresh or stored for later.
