Tomate Saint-PierreHow to sow Saint-Pierre tomatoes successfully under cover?
To grow Saint Pierre tomatoes under cover, it is advisable to start sowing in March so that you can transplant them into the ground in May. Choose quality seeds, organic if possible. To sow your seeds, use peat pots or medium-sized pots filled with light compost. Pack the soil lightly and place one seed per pot about 1 cm deep. Water gently to keep the soil moist but not soggy.
Place your cups indoors, near a sunny window or under a horticultural lamp to encourage germination. The ideal temperature for tomatoes to germinate is around 20-25°C. Make sure you aerate your seedlings regularly to avoid any risk of fungal diseases.
As soon as the seedlings have developed their first two leaves, transplant them into the ground, making sure they are about 50 cm apart. Mulch the soil to retain moisture and limit weeds. Water regularly without wetting the foliage to prevent disease.
