How do I sow thyme wild thyme outdoors?
To sow thyme serpolet outdoors, we recommend doing so in spring, when the risk of frost has passed. First prepare the soil by carefully weeding it and working it deeply so that it is loose. Then sow the seeds on the surface of the soil, spacing them about 30 centimetres apart. Cover the seeds lightly with a little fine soil and tamp gently.
It is important to ensure that the soil always remains cool but well drained. Water regularly, especially in hot weather, but be careful not to drown young plants. Thyme serpolet likes sunny exposures, so choose a sunny spot for sowing.
Once the plants are well established, you can divide them and replant them at a greater distance if required. Thyme serpolet is a plant that does not require fertiliser; it is generally content with the natural compost in the soil. By following these tips, you should be able to grow beautiful wild thyme plants to enhance your dishes and enjoy its health benefits.
