Dill is an aromatic herb. It is known in the kitchen to add flavor to fish dishes, sauces and marinades. It brings an aniseed flavor to your dishes. We can use the seeds and the leaves of the plant. But, it also has medicinal properties anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic... This plant is part of the Apiaceae family. We can find several varieties like "Mammoth", "Hera", "Dukat" is the most fragrant, "Tetra gold" or "Fernleaf". Dill is very easy to grow.

The sowing of dill can be spread out until the beginning of the summer in order to benefit from a long term harvest. You can start to sow your seeds from April directly in the ground. It is a simple plant, which one will reserve a sunny place in the garden but if possible sheltered from the wind. It appreciates ordinary but light soils. If your soil is too heavy, add sand and potting soil to make it welcoming for your plant.

When planting in your garden, you can enrich the soil with compost, ground horn or manure. Depending on the variety you choose, you will need to allow room for it to grow. Indeed, the "Mammoth" can reach nearly a meter high. To prevent the dill from going to seed, you must remember to water it well and not let the soil dry out. The harvest of dill seeds begins about five months after sowing. The leaves are harvested from July to September, about three to four months after sowing.
