Lechuga icebergHow to sow iceberg lettuce successfully under cover?
To sow iceberg lettuce seeds under cover, you can use biodegradable coconut fibre cups or terracotta pots. Fill the cups or pots with a mixture of universal potting soil and well-decomposed compost.
It is recommended to sow iceberg lettuce seeds in early spring, around March-April, for an expected harvest in summer. The seeds should be sown on the surface of the substrate and covered with a thin layer of potting soil. Water gently to keep the substrate moist, but not soggy.
It's important to place the cups or pots in a bright place, at a temperature of between 18 and 22°C. Also make sure you aerate regularly to avoid fungal diseases.
Once the plants have reached a height of around 5-7 cm, they can be transplanted into the ground or into growing trays. Be sure to leave a space of around 30 cm between each plant.
