How to sow lovage successfully outdoors?

To grow lovage (mountain ache / perpetual celery) outdoors, we recommend sowing the seeds in spring, once all risk of frost has passed. Choose a sunny or partly shady spot with moist, well-drained soil.

Before sowing, prepare the soil by weeding and working it deeply to make it loose. Then sow the seeds at a depth of 1 to 2 cm, spacing them about 30 cm apart.

Be sure to water the plants regularly to keep the soil moist, but avoid excess water which could cause root rot. Lovage needs plenty of sunlight to thrive, so make sure you place the plants in a sunny spot.

When the plants are ready, water them regularly to keep the soil moist.

Once the plants have reached a certain height, you can prune them to encourage denser growth. At the end of the season, you can harvest the leaves and stems for use in cooking.
