Snow peas
Snow peas are often used in traditional or Asian cuisine. It can be eaten in salads, soups or simply as a vegetable. It is part of the Fabaceae family of vegetables. There are some varieties of mangetout peas: the Norman, the Swiss Giant, the ram's horn or Bambi. There are also dwarf varieties. It is very simple to cultivate.
We prefer to sow it directly in the garden or in long planters, because it is a vegetable that is sown in rows. It is sown fairly early in the year, from February to April, and requires a sunny exposure, but does not tolerate hot sun. For its good development, it should be sown in a fresh, light and well-drained garden soil.
Snow peas do not need to be pruned, but it will be necessary to prune the young plants when they are more than 10 cm long. This will improve their yield, make harvesting much easier and avoid pest and disease attacks. Please make sure that the plant does not lack water, because this would be fatal for it. You can mark the harvest date of the first peas towards the end of April on your calendar. After that, it will be spread out until August.
