Garlic
How do I plant white garlic?
To grow white garlic, it's best to plant the cloves in autumn, between September and November. Choose a sunny, well-drained spot in your garden. Prepare the soil by weeding and working it deeply so that it is well aerated.
Separate the garlic cloves (also known as cloves) and plant them about 5 cm deep, spacing them about 15 cm apart. Cover with soil and press lightly. Water regularly for the first few weeks, but be careful not to overwater to prevent rotting.
In winter, cover your plants with mulch if necessary to protect them from the cold. In summer, when the leaves start to turn yellow, it's time to harvest your white garlic. Pull up the plants and leave them to dry in the shade for a few days before storing them in a dry, airy place.
When should white garlic be harvested?
White garlic is usually harvested in late summer or early autumn, when the leaves begin to yellow and dry out. To harvest garlic, simply pull gently on the bulbils to dig them out of the ground. It's important to do this in dry weather to prevent the cloves from rotting. Once harvested, we recommend that you leave the garlic to dry in an airy place away from the sun for 2 to 3 weeks. Once dry, cut off the roots and stems, then store the garlic in a cool, dry place away from light. This way, white garlic will keep for several months, so you can enjoy it all year round. By following these simple steps, you can harvest and preserve your white garlic without the use of chemical fertilisers.
