Amaranth
Amaranth is a fairly easy plant to grow and offers many possibilities in the kitchen. Originally from South America, it is today cultivated in many regions of the world for its leaves and seeds.
To grow amaranth, it is best to sow the seeds directly in the ground, after the last frost. Choose a sunny, well-drained, nutrient-rich location. Work the soil by scratching it to aerate it and add a little compost if necessary.
Sow the seeds on the surface of the soil, spacing them a few centimeters apart from each other. Cover them lightly with soil and water regularly to keep the soil moist. Amaranth seeds usually germinate within one to two weeks.
Once the plants have reached a few centimeters in height, you can thin out, keeping only the most vigorous plants, spacing them about 30 cm apart. Continue to water regularly, allowing the soil to dry slightly…
