In the Alliaceae family, I ask for the onion! This vegetable is present in every kitchen and can be eaten in many ways. Weighing about a hundred grams, it can be very different depending on its variety: round or elongated, red or white in color, passing through yellow. Although it can be eaten raw in salads, its powerful aroma is more often used to spice up gratins and sauces. As a main ingredient, it makes excellent soups and even "flammenkueches".

Yellow or red onions should be sown from the end of February in well-drained, loose garden soil. This will allow the onion to grow without constraint. Placed 3 cm from the surface and about 15 cm apart, they will not interfere with each other during their growth. To help it, it is possible to put an organic fertilizer, but be careful not to add fresh manure on top. It will do well in a mild climate with low humidity. Resistant, certain varieties can be planted all year long.

To prevent the onion bulbs from drowning and rotting with water, the soil should be buttered. This helps with drainage during heavy rains. Relying on a calendar for planting and harvesting in the vegetable garden is a great asset. 6 months after all these steps, it is time to collect them, let them dry, and store them in a dark and dry place.
