The bintje potato is a variety of potato much appreciated for its firm, melt-in-the-mouth flesh. Rich in carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals, they are a staple food in many kitchens. It can be cooked in a variety of ways: mashed, fried, au gratin or in soup. Its delicate flavour goes very well with many other ingredients, making it a versatile vegetable that can be used in a wide range of dishes.

To grow the bintje potato, we recommend sowing it in spring, from March onwards. The plant needs a sunny spot in loose, well-drained soil rich in organic matter. It is important to prepare the soil well by spading and adding compost before planting the tubers. They should be buried about ten centimetres deep and spaced about 30 centimetres apart. It is also advisable to deadhead the plants as they develop to encourage tuber formation.
