In the vegetable garden, celery is prized for its nutritional value and aesthetic appeal. It is grown in sun or part-shade, in rich, fresh, well-drained soil. Spikenard and perennial spikenard require regular watering and compost or well-drained manure, while perennial spikenard is more tolerant and can be left in place for several years. Celery combines well with root crops, onions and aromatic herbs such as parsley or dill, creating a harmonious and productive vegetable garden. Growing it is fun and entertaining, suitable for both experienced and novice gardeners.
