Wild chicory, also known as Cichorium intybus, is a herbaceous plant that is very common in Europe. It has pretty, capitulum-shaped, light-blue flowers reminiscent of those of the dandelion. Wild chicory can reach up to 1 m in height, and its serrated leaves are generally green with the occasional purple tinge.To grow wild chicory in your garden, plant it in well-drained, slightly acidic, neutral soil. This plant prefers a sunny, semi-shaded position. It is fairly hardy and resists harsh weather well, making it an ideal plant for gardens with little maintenance.The ideal time to sow wild chicory seeds is in spring, once any risk of frost has passed. The seeds can be sown directly in the ground to a depth of around 1 cm.
